Drivers permit cancelled?

Question

ok when i was 17 i was recently attending a driving school but i could not finish it because i was traveling to my country ..

now i came back now im 18 and i found out that the driving school canceled my permit

is there any way i can renew or valid my permit without taking the permt test now that im 18?

i really dont want to take the test again=/

do i just go to the dmv and renew it?

this is in the state of IL!
