  1. I'd keep it exactly as is.  In a way I wish it would be higher because teens are involved in way too many accidents dealing with maturity and responsibility.  But it would also alter our society, and make life a lot more difficult for so many people.

  2. I do hope you plan on using real words, proper grammar, and punctuation if you want a report to be taken seriously.

There is a high rate of major accidents in young drivers.  There are several reasons for this.

A - teenage drivers tend to have a feeling of invincibility, so they overdrive their capabilities.

B - there is no substitution for experience in determining not only one's own capabilities, but the safe and practical limits of the vehicle in varying weather conditions.

  3. Leave it right where it is, any lower would be bad because people that young are not ready to take on the resposibility of driving.

  4. MARCH 2008

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 15- to 20-year olds.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 3,490 drivers in this age group died in motor vehicle crashes in 2006 and an additional 272,000 were injured.

Drivers age 15- to 20-years old accounted for 12.9 percent of all the drivers involved in fatal crashes and 16 percent of all the drivers involved in police-reported crashes.

Twenty-five percent of teen drivers killed were intoxicated. In 2002 (latest data available) the estimated economic cost of police-reported crashes involving drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 was $40.8 billion, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA,

    http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov ).

Among licensed drivers, young people between the ages of 15 and 20 have the highest rate of fatal crashes relative to other age groups, including the elderly. In fact, the risk of being involved in a fatal crash for teens is three times greater than for drivers age 65 to 69.

Immaturity and lack of driving experience are the two main factors leading to the high crash rate among teens.

  5. I think permits are fine, but I think the law should be changed to requiring you to be 18 to have your driver's licence.  Studies show that an adolescent's brain is identical to someone with schizophrenia...I'm not thrilled at the thought of a schizophrenic behind the wheel.

  6. i think this is a tricky question cause it has it's pro's and cons to whether it should be higher or lower. take american for example they have drivers education during school hours and there age is lower and they have fewer accidents at young ages although that could have something to do with the alcohol age being higher also (but thats another story)..... whereas here we have already a higher age but more accidents...but does that mean if we lower the age here we will be like america or will are accident rates get higher......

    like i said pro's and con's :  )
