  1. This is UK.

This rumour has been flying around for countless years. They are considering the matter, but it will be a long time before they make it law (years) - if they ever do.

Rest assured you will be able to get your provisional licence, learn to drive and pass your test at 17 - no problem.

To give you an idea of timescale of any changes, my daughter is 8 - I suspect she may have to wait until she's 18!

    Good luck.

  2. Its not for sure

  3. just proposed not certain yet,,,

  4. Pretty much a waste of time! If they are going to increase it they should increase it to 21. More accidents are caused by 17 - 21 year olds than any other age group.

  5. I agree with it but would like to see it world wide to maybe 21 years of age...............................

  6. I don't think age makes as much of a difference as experience. I'd rather an 18 year old that's been driving since 16 than a 21 year old that's driving for the first time.

  7. proposed, not a cert yet. Although this has been discussed for a few years now.

  8. They are definitely discussing it, the sooner the better.

  9. There's been many reports proposing to increase the age by one year to reduce the amount of accidents, as there is a belief that at 18 you are more responsible than a year ago.

However, the law has not been changed yet, if it had you would have been sure to hear about it on the news!

  10. uk. after easter, is the time they are discussing this issue.

They all want this law to come in, you will still get a licence at 17 but will not be able to pass a test or drive alone untill you are 18. It is down to a safety issue, you must have a years  training,

EG  young lad/lady lives on farm, drives in field all day and around the farm. and now they go for driving lessons, a very capable driver because he/she has been driving for 6 years on the farm, SO. now he/she has lessons and is very capable of passing a test after only ten lessons, because of past experience, in reality a field is nothing like the road, and this person now has 10 hours tuition and is on the road. simply put, people need more training before being allowed on the road, the only other alternative is to use restricted cars, and if you dont want to drive one before your 18 it is your choice, it worked very well on the motorcycles, However the insurance companies will prevent this law coming in, because they cannot lose all the revenue of the younger drivers, so dont worry it will not happen, money 1st, safety 2nd, lives 3rd. thats the uk for ya.

  11. I am not sure I know in Alabama it was 16 the last I checked.
