Question:

Driving Frets?

Hi, I'm still a teenager but I'm really worried about driving. I want to drive myself around and my friends as well but just getting into a driver's seat scares me. I am not very fast at reacting so I'm afraid of accidents. I am a pretty slow learner so I am afraid of people being angry at me and blowing horns at me. I have NO idea how to drive even after reading the manual. The lights confuse me (like what does two green lights mean?), I don't know when to turn, how to turn, how much to turn the steering wheel to turn, and alot more. When do I look at the vertical light like this : O

O

O

and when do I look at the horizontal light : O O O

I'm extremely scared of driving. Can somebody suggest me some tips?

Also, does can anybody tell me briefly the important things to know so I can pass the Learner's Test?

Thanks so much in advance.

  1. A SCARED DRIVER IS A DANGEROUS DRIVER!! SO THAT'S NOT GOOD...YOU CAN'T BE GOOD AT ANYTHING IF YOUR SCARED OF IT.

DID SOMETHING SPECIFIC HAPPEN TO SCARE YOU?

  2. Being worried about driving is common in those newly behind the wheel. And it's understandable: you are now in control of an object weighing a ton or more.

A good idea would be to go with responsible adults (your parents, relatives, etc) to a rural area or an abandoned parking lot. This will give you plenty of space to practice with little to no traffic.

For two green lights, I believe I know what you are referring to. You may be referring to a green circular light directly above or beside a green arrow. The arrow indicates that you have a protected turn, and that once the protected turn ends (the arrow goes from green, to yellow, then disappears) it will be a turn-after-yielding to oncoming traffic.

In reference to looking at vertical or horizontal lights, look at the one that is intended for your lane. There should be one set of 3 lights per lane. Sometimes the turn lane will have 4 lights (which includes the above-mentioned protected turn arrow).

I cannot possibly give you all the info you need (turning degrees, etc), so you will need to study more. I have included sources for you to follow.

  3. just practice alot.

dont get behind the wheel by yourself untill you feel comfortable!
