Hey! I have my drivers test soon, and i need help! For some reason, I have this hard time backing into a space, I've heard that if you go (from the spot you choose that starting white line) one and a half up, cut your wheel to the right and it just flows in, I've also heard of going 3 white lines up (including the starting spaces line) then cutting the wheel and backing in... neither seem to work for me.... anyone have the right way to? Thanks!!

  1. Ex. if you're parking betwn 2 cars on the rt side of street, pull up your car - even with the 1st car.  Slowly being backing the car  & turning your wheel to the Rt.  When you see the Rt front corner of your car is dead center in your lane of travel, begin turning the steering wheel to the left as you continue to back in.  This is how I taught my son to park and he did it the 1st, 2nd, .......  and10th time after without flaw.  Good Luck!

  2. Find yourself an empty parking lot (or your own driveway if there is room), and practice, practice, practice.

Stop & get out of the car, walk around it, and see where it is headed (and the position of the steering tires) every couple of feet.  Adjust as necessary.

  3. Are you talking about parallel parking or just straight backing? For me if Parallel parking I center my car with the rear end of the car in front of my space and slowly back in. Don't turn your wheel all the way it will turn you too sharp...do it slowly and guide your self in..

  4. I don't know where you are, so I don't know what is the local requirement for your test, but if this is in the test, why is your Instructor not teaching you this manouvre?  And if it's not in the test, why worry about it?  You ARE being trained by an instructor, surely?
