Hi,

I have weekly lessons for 1hr and from time to time, My instructor decides to take a holiday.

If I happen to miss 2 weeks or so worth of lessons, Is it worth using a different instructor just for those 2 weeks, so 2 lessons?

  1. Yes you could have lessons with another instructor.  Your regular instructor could recommend one for a couple of weeks if you don't want to be without any practice during that time. You should have a progess report with your instructor to help you to continue with your lesson plans.  Or if you are not happy change your instructor....get a friend to recommend one.......not necessarily BSM.  A lot of the small independent instructors are good....do not go for the cheapest, and also busy instructors are usually the best.  Average price of a lesson is around £22 per hour.

  2. oh i agree with the first answer, go get some practice without your instructor, it'll be cheaper and more useful!

  3. Firstly, it sounds like you have an independent driving instructor.  I would never recommend 1 hour lessons.  Cannot learn within that hour.

Secondly, don't go with a parent/friend to learn.  You need proper instruction.  Go for a driving school.  Better for you, if you have a problem then you can complain to someone and sort it out.  With an independent instructor you have no one to complain to, other than the D.S.A. ( DRIVING STANDARDS AGENCY).  This is the regulatory body who check and can suspend driving instructors if there are complaints.

Try and go for an organisation similar to BSM.  They have a full team who will assist you from booking theory and practical driving tests, and they keep an eye on instructors and pupils.  If the Manager thinks a pupil is not progressing then they will contact you and ask you if everything is working out.  You can change instructors, and if your instructor is ill or on holiday there is always another one standing by to help you.

    Go for it..... Good Luck

  4. Get a relative to take you to an empty parking lot and save the money.
