Does anyone know if I also have to study for the MOTORCYCLE pamphlet if I am just taking the permit test for driving a car?

-Or do I just study the vehicle handbook?

Thanks.

  1. In order to drive a motorcycle you must pass a special motorcycle class and driving test. That means if you are just getting your class A license (for just cars and regular trucks) you dont need to know anything about motorcycles other then you must stay within 2 car lengths behind them. (Atleast i thinks its 2 car lengths been awhile since my road test) Also if you are taking the road test the studying the vehicle handbook is useless. The only things you must know about the car are:

    1. Know all the gauges like gas gauge and spedometer

    2. Work your lights like switching from high to low beam and blinkers.

    3. Know were you parking break is.

These are some of the things i got tested on and is almost what every state tests on:

    1. Y-turn (important to head check everytime you stop and they will test on this)

    2. Parallel parking some states this is optional however big citys like New York or Chicago this is mandatory.

    3. Hill Park will be on the test.

    4. Hand position is not extreme however i failed my first time because i got caught with one hand on the wheel its a habit alot of people get into.

    5. MAKE SURE THE INSTRUCTOR IS BUCKLED!!!!! This can be a automatic failure its a small trick they pull to make you pay attention. Very easy to forget when you are nervous.

    6. The basic things such as head check every intersection, speed limit (DMV is very picky on this 2-3 over can mean 5 pnts gone or you fail automaticaly no joke) stopping behind the stop sign and lights, checking your mirror when you stop or even slowdown, hardbreaking, attention to the road, ect.

The best advice i can give you is to not be nervous. I failed my first time because i was freaking a bit but my second time i just took a deep breath and literally got 0 pnts taken off. It also helps to make conversation with your instructor. It makes them less attentive to what you are doing and in the end they may knock off a few pnts for ya. Just ask em about thier job and simple things like that. GL man.

  2. Just study the driving part;

and you'll probably fail the first time

because everyone does but the good

thing is that you can just take it the next

    day like me and pass.

    A piece of cakeee hahaha

    hope this helps

    PS dont study too hard

  3. Just the basic book no motorcycle book.
