I am testing for my drivers license in two days and I am really nervous. Do you have any tips for me to pass? Like do's and don'ts?

  1. When you make any type of turn, DO NOT let the steering wheel slide through you hands. Keep both hands on the wheel and remember to check you r mirrors, buckle your seat belt and use your turn signals.

You should probably BUCKLE UP 1ST

  2. Just don't be nervous.  You'll do just fine.

When you get in the car, remember seat belts, mirrors and such...very important :-)

And when your driving with the instructor, just act like its one of your friends with you.  Obey all traffic laws and signs.  Since your doing the speed limit, stop at yellow lights before they turn red.

    Just think...in 2 days you'll be America's next driver ;-)

  3. Tests are different state to state. Some states require you to do more things than others. Some test you on closed range, some on the streets that are usually quiet, but there are other cars/pedestrians, etc....

But in general - know what you need to be able to do in your state. For example in New York, you get tested on the streets. Need:

    1. Left + right turns. Make sure you slow down enough before the turn, but don't stop completely if you don't have stop or yield sign.

    2. Obey STOP signs. Stop fully before the stop line, then if no visible traffic is coming up on cross street move in closer and stop again to make sure nobody's there. Then proceed. If you don't fully stop before the stop sign - it's almost certainly automatic failure.

    3. Parallel parking. Not all states have that. It's usually what most newbie drivers fail in NYS. Here's a tip. Practice. Pull up  near a car that you need to park behind. Move back carefully until about a point when your mirror is in line with rear wheel. Then do a full turn of your steering wheel to the right (assuming you park on the right) and move back. When you're backed in far enough - stop, do two full turns of a wheel to the left and keep backing up until you're parallel to the curb. Then one full turn to the right and pull up to the front car. Here's a trick - when you're practicing, notice where the curb is in your rear window for just a perfect execution. Put a bit of tape on the rear window just in the spot where you should see the curb. Then when you're parking just look for the curb to align with the tape when backing in initially. This won't help you in real life, because you usually park between two cars, but that may just as well save you the test. If you hit the curb - you failed.

    4. Broken U-turn. Again, know your drill. 1 left turn of wheel, go almost perpendicular to street, two right back up, two left, forward, straighten up, one right. This is usually an easy one once you know what you're doing.

    5. In all cases when backing up, make sure you put your right hand behind the back of passenger seat and turn around and look back. Don't just use rear view mirror.

    6. Before turns, lane changes, etc, always turn your head besides looking at the mirrors. You will probably not fail if you forget to once of twice, but they'll warn you at the least. But then again, depends on an inspector..

    7. Don't be nervous!

    8. Good luck!

    LEM.

  4. The two biggies... check your mirrors and use your indicators (turn signals).

Obviously, bunny-hopping is a big no-no.  As is disobeying any road signs and hitting something.  But where most people lose points (on their test) is mirrors and indicators.

    Good luck

  5. 1. Don't start your car before the examiner tells you to.

    2. Pretend to check your rearview mirror and make sure the examiner sees you do it.

    3. Look left and right every time you change direction such as turn left or right (just make sure he sees you do it)

    4. When he tests you how to back up, check the rearview mirror first, then look back and don't look any other direction except back.

    5. MOST IMPORTANT of all, ALL examiners are extremely RUDE and MEAN.. just stay quiet unless he asks something..

Good luck, I hope you pass!!!

  6. Don't go over the speed limit

    Don't run a red light

    Don't drive onto a curb

    Don't hit someone

Do stop completely at a stop sign

    Do look left right left

  7. stop being nervous, if you fear s******g up, you will s***w up.

relax.... it's not that big of a deal.... go driving around for an hour or two before your test... you know just to get your mind fresh with the feel of the car.
