Driving Test next week any tips or advice?

Hi people,

I have my first driving test next week and obviously i'm a bit nervous about it! Even though i consider myself a good driver i can't stop worrying about failing. My only problem is the left hand reverse. Once i get to the point where i put on a full left lock,i find it difficult to straighten back up.Either i go towards the pavement,or when i try to straighten up,i end up pointing the car towards the middle of the road! Any tips/advice on how to get through this and stay calm on the day of the test would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  1. you have to relax. stay calm and dont think about it if it was a test. if you think your a good driver then you should pass it easily. Good Luck!!

  2. Don't panic.  The rest will fall into place.

  3. just try to stay as calm as possible ,and dont look at the officer keep your eyes and mind on the road ,use turn signals and try to back up in a smooth  straight line looking over your right shoulder and dont go to fast , just take it easy and listen to his directions ...now go on and i know you will pass it with a breeze...congratulations and welcome to the road.....

  4. Signal all turns  -  On parallel parking,  start with your rear bumper even with the parked car rear bumper   you wish to park behind.   Do not turn as sharp as you can, and turn steering wheel after your front clears the parked car (to right for left side parking) .

Practice will be your best teacher

  5. Everyone always seems to worry about the left reverse - you are not alone.

The strange thing is, when people get confused about which way to steer they invariably look forwards! This makes them even more confused 'cos they start to try and work out their steering back to front - and that can be a nightmare.

What you actually need to due, particularly in a moment of confusion, is make sure you are looking out of the back window and simply steer in the direction you need to go. Easier said than done, I know - but, before your test, practice it a couple of times and you will see what I mean. Remember, also, that if you do get confused, it is ok to stop for a couple of seconds to gather your thoughts (as long as you are not causing an obstruction) - better to do that than finish up in the middle of the road or on the kerb.

If I haven't made myself clear, go to the website below and email me on the 'info' email address - I'll be happy to try and explain things a little better.

    Good luck :-)

  6. when i took my driving test all i had to do was park on a hill and 3 point turn. like everyone said if your a good driver you should have no problem. listen to the instructor. watch your speed in school zones, they can fail you right there for exceeding it.  a tip for steering is if your not sure where your wheels are pointing turn the wheel all the way to the left till it stops, then turn it 1 and a half revolutions to the right. your wheels should be straight. practice that before your test dont do it whith the intructor in the car lol

  7. when u revers around the corner stop the car just befor u want to straighten your wheels get marker pen look out ov back window from your driving position remember where the kerb is in the back window it should be just before the bump ov windscreen whipper when the kerb hits your arrow on back window straighten up one good tip keep looking all around if you ar going to hit kerb pull forward a Little same thing if u ar wide as long as u dont hit kerb or cross centre line u will be ok  keep it very slow crawling speed most important thing is looking round and backwards blind spots on bend next is control like i sed crawling speed and the last one accuracy not to bothered about unless u hit kerb or cross line  obs control accuracy          trust me get on your hands and nees and crawl that's how slow u need to do this manover the same rules apply to all manovers   good luck streetlife som
