I am trying to make a trip to great adventures this summer with all of my friends. We are planning on renting a 15 passenger van and all of us are chipping in for the expenses , i am actually kinda excited about this trip , but someone told me today that someone will need a " commercial license " to drive the van/ Is this true , even if it is just for one trip. Please advise , thanks!

  1. not that I'm aware of, I drove one before for work and didn't. Just call secretary of state.  Just B careful driving, they can be very difficult to drive.  Have fun!

  2. Ive lived is 3 different states and none required more than a regular lic for a 15 pass van...

  3. someone is pulling your leg,you would need a cdl if you are charging passengers to transport, your friends are not .al you guys are doing is splitting the cost have a good time

  4. 15 passengers including the driver.........NO.

    15 passengers plus the driver.................YES.

  5. no you just need a liscence

  6. You may need to be 25 to rent it though...

although you shouldn't need a license.

  7. Depends on where you are. In some states / provinces, you need a special drivers licence to drive something that big - even once. Call your local dept of transportation or whoever issued your driver's permit to find out.

  8. Standard license is all you need.

Be safe, have fun, stay overnight if the drive is more than 2 hours (priceline.com & name your own price; tents are an option, too), wear a red carnation and meet me at the gate.

Experience tells me that after a full day of fun in the park, you are probably in no condition to drive very far/long.  Seriously.

  9. Ok. Once you find out whether or not it is legal to drive one of those death traps in your state there are a few things you need to understand about them.

Fifteen passenger vans have been banned from some states for transporting students to school. The reason for this is they are very top heavy. When you are making turns or taking a curve you need to slow way down. Don't make any sudden lane changes. They tend to flip over easily. Like SUV's. Don't load stuff on the top of the van, try to store it down low. Pay attention to what you are doing and you should be fine.

  10. No

  11. i agree it depends where you are
