  2. skirting the law, she says.

If teens are caught violating the provisions, the penalty for a first offense is a fine of up to $35 or community service under the current law. A second offense would require additional hours of community service and a fine of up to $50. or they can suspend your license  or take it away until your 18 if caught more than once

  3. 1. A fine.

    2. Suspended license for a minimum of 30 days.

    3. Your vehicle may be impounded for 30 days. (VC 14602.6)

  4. I believe in some states you are only allowed to drive a minor if they are members of your family.

But honestly you should try to avoid it. For a driver people talking  is very distracting, and it might not seem like it is but it can cause an accident, so as a new driver it's even more unsafe.  It only take 1 second at the wrong moment - the problem is you don't know when that moment is near.

The problem is that teens and small children talk ALLOT and want you to look at them when they are talking, but a driver new or old should never take his/her eyes off the road.

Once when I was driving my children were argueing (like kids do), so to handle it I pulled over into a parking space on the side of the road (safe right? ).  There were cars along the side for practically the whole street length but there were 2 empty spaces behind me, I had my blinkers on, and I was setteling the dispute as I was about to take of the blinkers off and considering to pull into traffic, a driver who obviosly wasn't paying attention ramed the car from behind.  Later he stated he thought it is was another lane not parking, yes he was a new driver, and yes there were more teenagers in his car.  When the police came I asked was there anything I could have done that I didn't do - he replied no and stated that obviously the other driver was to busy talking and in too big of a hurray to notice a parked car in the parking lane.

    LOL

  5. Not sure what the penalty is but if you are not legally allowed to do it, I hope you do get caught if you try it
