Im 17 and ive had my drivers license for over a year nad im confused about curfew. I kno that on the license it says after the 1st year you can transport passengers , and drive between 11pm-5am,. Now its confusing cuase it also states curfew is 12am so this makes no sense to me, whats the point in saying you can drive between those times when theres a curfew. Could someone clear this up for me. by the way i live in California if that changes anything

  1. if youve had it for over a year, you can drive people but under the law of curfew for minorities. you, and your friends under 18 have to be home by 11 pm and can be out no earlier than 5 because your still minors by law

  2. If you're younger than 18 years old this requires you to be accompanied by a parent, guardian, licensed driver 25 years old or older, or a licensed, certified driving instructor while:

Driving between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. for the first 12 months or until you turn 18.

Driving with any number of passengers younger than 20 years old, for the first 12 months or until you turn 18.

  3. It's because you just started driving. It shouldn't be at 11pm-5am. That's quite strange. But, since you only have been driving for a year, you should be home at 5 pm. That makes it safer. If your with an ADULT, it shouldn't matter-I think. But if your by yourself or with a minor, you should be home before 12, at night. I really depends on which state you live in.
