Question:

Driving from Horsham to Perth - what to see on the way?

My family from Australia are coming to the UK. They will be driving from Horsham to Perth while they are here.

Where would you suggest they stop on the way to have a quick look at, say stopping for lunch - eg. a major city or just a nice little village that is not far from the route they are mostly likely to take.

Or is there something worth them diverting slightly to see eg a lovely town to drive through or a scenic road?

Since they will be covering so much ground I'd like them to take advantage of it by adding as much in as possible.

  1. Easily done in about 8hrs, traffic permitting. obviously you need to add onto that any time for stops, but as long as they don't mind a long drive then it can be done in a day.

They will be passing many beautiful places on the route, depending which way they are going, they may pass Oxford (which is lovely) York (also lovely) a bit closer to scotland they can stop near either Carlisle or Newcastle (again depending on route) and take a look at hadrians wall and then a bit further up they can stop at Berwick on tweed and look across to Lindisfarne.

They will be crossing most of the country so there are millions of gorgeous places to stop.
