Hi can someome give us some advise? Me and my finance are from New Zealand and planning this trip for our honeymoon for Feb next year. We arrive in LA and are going to drive to san diego and catch a bus accross the boarder to Meixicali and then rent a car and drive along the westcoast to Mexico City which we fly out of to our final destination Las Vegas. Just wanting some tips and advise on hiring a car in Mexicali and weather it will be possible to drop off in Mexico City? Also from what i can see it will take around 32 hours is this correct? We have basically got 10days to get there for our flight and want to stop off for a couple of days at the nicest places. What is the best route and places that we must see along the westcoast ? also i think its winter time but will it still be nice and hot? I have read that Mexico city can be cold so prepared for that but hoping the other places will be warm. Also how far is Acupulco from Mexico city? Any links or info would be appreciated

  1. Hi there, 1st...congrats on the marriage.  I sell insurance to drive into Mexico and maybe have some advice for you.  I see that you want to rent a vehicle in Mexicali and fly out of Mexico City.  All I can tell you about that is that it is much cheaper to rent a vehicle in the USA and get the travel insurance.  I don't know what the cost of rental in Mexico will be but have heard over the last 16 yrs that the cost of insurance will be costly.  I can possibly check out that for you later.  The only problem for you will be that you would probably have to take the car back to the US and I guess if you are flying out of Mexico City....that won't happen.  If you were to drive from the USA side ...my advice for your trip would to be to go across the border in Nogales Arizona, From there (either way you rent the car) would be to go to San Carlos (1 of the Best diving in the world) (approx 6hrs). Next to Mazatlan.  (from the USA about 14hrs.)  Down to Puerto Vallarta.  Across over to Guadalajara, Morelia then Mexico City.  Fly out.  If Driving a USA vehicle you could go to San Luis Potosia, Torreon, Chihuahua and out at the Juarez/El Paso Tx border.  Your question about distance from Acupulco to Mexico City is about 405 miles.

I might be able to come up with some places to stay and eat for you along the way if you would like (maybe some maps).  Let me know if you would like any other info and if I can help I will.

  2. it won't be the honeymoon to dream of...i think you'll regret this undertaking.

  3. I believe there is a website called "Google" for this kind of nonsense.
