Driving from Monterrey to Mazatlan Mexico?

Has anyone done this trip? How long does it take? It looks very winding? Can I get there in a day? Looks VERY remote? Anything of interest to stop and see along the way?

From Monterrey in the state of Nuevo Leon to Mazatlan in the stat of Sinaloa, it's 924 kilometers and twelve hours driving time, and 496 pesos in tolls.  I could be done in one day of driving from sun up to sun down--don't drive at night.  You could spend the night in Durango and check out that town.

The fare would be about: $200 dlls round trip per person. Much less than what you would spend in gas and toll fares...unless you have 4 or 5 in the car...and more importantly...you'll spend more time at the beach relaxing instead of driving the winding Sierra road...
