Driving from Woodland Hills to Los Angeles.?

I'm starting a job in L.A. in a week or so and am wondering what's a good time to be on the freeway. I planned on leaving at around 7 a.m. to get there by 8:30. I'm in Woodland Hills and need to be in L.A. (or more specifically, Sepulveda and Pico). Do you think that's in any way realistic? Or should I try leaving even earlier?

I thought about maybe taking local roads and riding Sepulveda all the way down, but I'm not sure about that.

Another option is taking the 27 to the 1 and taking Pico to Sepulveda.

Try it both ways and then pick one. Try the earlier way first so you won't be late.
