Driving in Florida under parent's insurance?

im 17 year old and i have had my permit for like 3 years cause my mom says she wont take me to take the drivers test because the insurance company will find out some how (IDK how???) and jack up her monthly payment...Is this true??????

  1. You can get licenced.  The licence should have nothing to do with the vehicle you'll be driving.  If you're unsure you can call the DMV and ask questions.  

    You have to call the insurance company once you are licenced to resister yourself as a secondary driver if you chose to drive her car.  That will cause your mom's insurance to increase.  But its better that it increases that little bit then for you to drive uninsured.  Call to ask how much it would change and offer to pay the difference.


  2. Call some insurance companies and find out, they will tell you the answer.  But there is also a web site that has some information about car insurance for young drivers and some helpful tips to save money.  Check with some of the insurance companies there that would be the best way to find the correct answer.
