Driving in england with an american licence?

my girlfriends sister is coming over to england from america, she has an american driving licence will she be able to drive a car over here on her licence

  1. Yes she can drive for six months but she can also get an international driving licence which she will be able to use here for a year

If you are resident outside the UK, are temporarily in this country and hold full ordinary licence, you can drive any category of vehicle, up to 3.5 tonnes and with up to 8 passenger seats, shown on your licence for up to 12 months from the date you last entered the UK whether or not you brought the vehicle into GB.

  4. i have friends who moved here from England, (America) and they've been using their English license for 3 years. I know people travel all of the time and rent cars. You might call a car rental agency and ask what they tell customers.
