Driving in states with higher age minimums?

In Illinois, the driving age is 15. If I get my license at 15, and then go to Massachusetts where the age is 16 1/2, can I drive using my Illinois license eve if im still 15?

  1. you should be able to because when you are driving with an out of state license the cops have to go by the rules of the state your license is from. At least this is what i was told in drivers ed when i asked if i could drive in NYC (where the age is 18 to get a license)


  2. You should be able to, as long as when you go to Mass. it's not a change of residence. As far as I know, all states honor other states licenses. Once you become a resident, you must change your license. That's when you may have a problem.
