Driving in the rain..........?

Today I was driving in the rain and i noticed something peculiar happening. Im driving a manual tiburon.

Im at a stop light, the light turns green so I sink the clutch and press the gas. I wasn't giving it a whole lot of gas.

What happened next was pretty scary.

The right wheel lost traction ( i guess) & the car kept wanting to go over into the other lane where there are other cars.

At first, I thought maybe i pressed the gas too much. But then, it kept happening.

The other 3 tires are fine. A couple weeks ago I had them inspected and the "tire guy" said they were "o.k.".

What do you thinks going on?

  1. Novatrek,

I have the same thing happened to me. What I do is, step on the gas lightly when the green light is on  because the rain makes the road very slippery. Be safe out there, I rather be late then not make it there at all.

  2. You probably just hit a slippery spot. Maybe someone at the red light before you, had an oil leak or something. I would take it to another tire guy to be sure. It's not something we should guess about. That does sound scary and I hope you find out what it is.   Take care.

  3. Since you got the tires checked.....now it's time to get a front end alignment.  If your right wheel is off just a little bit it may cause what's happening.  Especially on a front wheel drive car.

  4. The wheel that had the most power caught an oil spot on the road caused by the rain and started to spin, there is nothing wrong with your vehicle.
