Do you need a licence (other than a drivers licence), to drive with a trailor?

  1. it depends on how long ago you passed your test. more recent licences are not authorised to pull a trailor. check the back of your paper licence to see what you can drive.

  2. United Kingdom - Trailer requirements.

Most trailers, you can drive on a licence with category 'B' entitlement (that's a car to me and you)

However, if the practical assesment test for your car licence was taken after 1997 (check date with dvla), you will need another entitlement, which is B+E.

An extra test is required at a Lorry type test centre, and the test for towing your trailer with car will last about double the time of a normal car test, and cost just over £100. Note that rates are going up constantly.

  3. depends on the sizeof the trailor

  4. To many variable if in UK look at this site.  http://www.dvla.gov.uk/drivers.aspx

  5. it depends entirely on the size of the trailer small trailers behind a car you dont need a licsence for

wagon trailers are then subject to hgv licsense for carrying loads

  6. You can drive a car with a trailer up to 750kgs on a normal UK driving licence post Jan 1997

Anything heavier than that you need to take another test (B+E)

    :)
