How old do you have to be to drive a moped in spain? (and is it true you cant drive on certain-bigger-roads? what sort of license do you need?

How old do you have to be to ride a small motorbike?and what sort of license do you need?

How old do you have to be to ride a full size big motorbike? what licenses do you need?

How easy is it to get any of the above licences in spain, if you were staying there for at least a year?

Gracias

  1. I agree with santiago,

up to a 50cc you can drive at 14, you just have to go for a medical, where they test your eyes, hand to eye co-ordination, and generally just have a quick chat with you...to make sure ur not a nutter,

at 16 i know you can drive a slightly larger one, and then 18 etc...

anyway santiago answered it perfectly for you, so i wont go into mega details!............

the only thing id disagree with santiago about is, the thing about 2 on a moped, the police generally dont care about that, unless they are in a bad mood.....

at least, where i lived thats the case

    haev fun

  2. ok so if you want to drive a moped if you are 14 you can do it but you need to go for the clases at the driving schol and do same exercise, but you don't have to do any test, and you only need to pay for the lisence and the doctor inspection, so do they know you are not crazy driving! this kind of moped scooter you can not drive on a hayway and same other rouds that the speed limit is over 80 km/h which I think is like 45 mil/h this one if you have a car driving licence you can drive with it you don't need to go classes!

than you havethe motorbike that to drive it you need to be 16 and past awriting test and a driving test but it is very expensive in spain take any driving lisence like for the car I paid 1500 euros wich is like 2000 dolars! also if you don't past one off the test at the 3th time you need to pay even more wich it was my case! so just to let you know is dificult and expensive!

so this kind of bike " the 16 bike" it only go to 120 klm/h about 75 miles! and than you have the biger bike so you need to be 18 and it is the same proses the test..... I don't know what name they have but I think it is the 14 is jus a permision, the 16 is call B, and the 18 is call B1 I think I amb not sure!

Also there is one more thing that if you need to practise because you don't know how to drive, than you need to pay even more for the practise clases!

and the test for a car and 18 bike you need to do a 40 question test in 40 minutes the 16 one I think is 20 question or something I am not sure!

well But I don't know about your case but for example me I am  here in the US and I have an international driving lisence, so what I did it was from my spanish driving lisence do the international and came to the US so I can drive a car! But I don't know about the revers!

I hope I answer your question!

    take care and good luke!

  3. Hi, sorry mate but the other question is quite incorrect..

Up till 49cc you can drive without license just a permision you get with ID, and medical plus basic understanding

74cc -125cc - You can drive at 16, but you neeed to get A1 license which has a theorical and driving test (better always take your bike than using one of their older vespas hand gear, so to take own bike). Good think is the theorical, if you pass it, is valid for all next licences, big bikes - A2, cars - B, and you will not have to take it again. So it is cheaper in the long run to first get the A1 and then A2 and B for car since then its only the driving part you will have to pass not the theorical.

250cc- onwards, 18 and A2 licence. Theorical and driving test, You get it alost automatically by paying when you are 18 if you already have A1 or have to take basically same test if no licence before then. The driving test is easy pass some cones without placinf feet on floor, drive straight stop blinkers, noooooooo problemou (also take your own or loaned bike)

Besides, Up until 250cc all smaller are banned in Highways, Motorways roads with at least two lanes in each direction.

Others 49cc, 74cc, 125cc you can drive everywhere except highways or roads indicating otherwise.

Usually if you motorcycle has the required blinckers, lights etc and you were helmet, they will rarely stop you unless you are acting foolishly, infront of everyone, if you drive foolishly away from view its oK ;o)

I never had any type of licence till I got the A1 at 16 because I wanted to ride bigger bikes and figured it would be easier for latter getting A2 and B (car) which it was.

I am Spanish always rode bikes, crosscountry, trial and road, Vespinos and the likes mopedss I did not bother and most spaniards dont either, to get anything, while moto papers are OK, inspection passed, and taxes payed. Unless you want to drive long distances.

Oh I forgot, what the cops DO dislike and stop you easily is when they see two people in a mopo or moped, but usually, unless you do it all time, they just ask you to let passenger off and go on alone. Helmets are important and cobver your age tooo

    Luck and dive carefully
