Driving my new car home with no tax or test but insured?

hello im buying my all time car tuesday coming i bin wanting one of these for years now got the chance to get one there 2 problems the car just bin fully restored and ready for road but dont have enough funds to get a recovery truck to bring it to me i really dont want to let this slip away ill not get a deal like this again so im thinking of driving the car home insured but there no tax or mot on the car but iv bin told insurance is void another option is to tow it home on the motorway but not sure if allowed does anyone have any advise or a answer to my problems thanks mark

  1. JG is correct. Towing would still require the necessary documents. You only really have two options:

    1) Get it transported

    or

    2) Drive it directly to a pre-booked MOT.  


  2. You can't tow it on wheels on the motorway, and to tow any vehicle on wheels, it still needs to be taxed, insured & MOT'd.

    You can drive it to a prearranged MOT without tax, but it's far better to get it transported - ask a local garage, it may be cheaper than you think.
