Driving permit HELP?

Im 16 and live in North Carolina, i failed all but 2 HS classes and know schools out and its summer, Can i get my permit this summer or do i have to wait until next semester for passing grades ? =[[ also if you turn 18 in NC can you just get behind the wheel and drive after the test or do you need to have a permit for a year?77

nice work. im from washington and im not sure how the laws differ. here your grades dont matter when getting a permit. you need to take a drivers education class and then you can get your permit. once youve had that for 6 months you take a written test and a practical driving test and you get your license. id just google north carolina licensing and see if you can find more details about laws specific to north carolina. and you cant just get behind the wheel of a car. a permit allows you to drive only with an adult who has been licensed for 4 years. typically it is a parent.
