  1. Well it seems that you are one of the many poor unfortunates who start taking Driving Lessons just 2 weeks from your Test!

This is not enough time to prepare...period.... unless you are going to drive for 2 - 3 hours per day until your Test.

There are Three or four Routes each with a few variations. One to Castletroy...one to Church Road, Raheen...one to the City Centre. All of these have some significant  Hot Spots.

I think one of the key points for anyone about to sit a Driving Test is that you must be proficient with all basic manoeuvres and particularly your reversing.

In our experience most Drivers who are unsuccessful on the Test throw marks away needlessly on the reversing techniques. If you go into your test having practised your reversing till you are dizzy from it( like 30 times each not 3!) then you are effectively giving yourself 2 more marks to play around with .

If you do some detective work it is possible to get some more detailed information to assist you. There is not enough space here to even scratch the surface of Driving Test Routes and preparation.

  2. Done it last March from that centre…and passed it too! There are 3 possible routes: One takes you through the Groody road, the one with about 4 roundabouts, up by the UL into a housing estate to do the reversing, out by the Kilmurray roundabout and back.

The one I got took me up to the Golf Link rd, up into Monaleen around the estate, out by the Kilmurray R, down the Dublin rd, up Childers Rd and back.

The horrible 3rd one is straight into Limerick via Tipp roundabout, up Mulgrave St, past the train station onto Upper Careys Rd (nasty hill stop at the top with a right turn!!), into Janesboro up to Roxboro and back down to the Tipp R.

I took a lot of lessons before the test, good luck and I hope you pass, don’t be nervous!
