  1. Practice these tips:

    Steer smoothly at all times.

Accelerate smoothly. Don't race the engine or make it stall.

Stop the vehicle gently. Start braking well ahead of where you must stop to avoid sudden “jerks.” Know where to stop.

Be aware of crosswalks. If your view is blocked at a crosswalk, move forward carefully and look both ways at the intersection.

Be sure your vehicle is in the correct gear. Don't grind the gears. Don't coast to a stop.

Always obey the posted speed limits. If needed, reduce your speed to adjust for existing weather, road, and other traffic conditions. Remember to turn on your lights if you need to use your windshield wipers in poor weather conditions.

Follow at a safe distance. Use the three-second rule.

Increase your following distance in bad weather or poor visibility.

Know what the traffic signals mean and obey them at all times.

Always use the proper lane. Turn from the correct lane into the correct lane.

Signal for all lane changes and turns.

Always look for potential hazards (scan). Check your mirrors frequently. Always look over the proper shoulder before making lane changes or pulling away from the curb.

Drive defensively. Anticipate another driver’s errors

  2. Driving up hill.  Drive steight in to spot checking your blind spot befor changing into parking lane.  Place vehicle 6 inches from curb. Turn your steering wheel away from curb. If on right side of street turn left if on the other side of street to the opposite side. this will only prevent your car from rolling if there is a curb.  If there is no curb do the oposite. Parralelle  Driving down hill do all the oposit you want to point your tires to hit curb if ever car rools. aproch the parking spot slowly. Stop when the front bumper is in the half way point ( size of spot) Asses whether your car is the corect size 1 and a half  times the size of your vehicle.   Look to see if someone is going to pass yoo. then pull up to place your car beside the space infront of the spot you chose. Check mirrors and lookback even if you have to put your arm around passenger seat the trick is to look where you are going if you think you are to close move away and restart. When it is clear proseed to back in turning around your head often to miss hitting front bumper on back of other car.  Second trick is to practice often all of the ways posible to parking.  When it is second nature you will have no anxiousness. If you have a standerd car place car in first gear place parking brake on turn car off  this will help prevent someone from towing your car away on front tires. If automatic trans. Stop car step on e brake turn engine off take keys out. If you have not been able to sleep for real and do not feal confident to do this procedure cancel your apointment at the test. Then practice untill you are confident and you are getting enough sleep. Make apointment for test and pass test with flying collersand no anxioty or lack of sleep. People who test you will know you are axious and or have not sleped enough they can funk you even if you park well but exibit extreem nervousness.  Having passengers is not good while practicing. Stay concentrated. Say your Prayers and God will do the rest. Person testing is JUST a MAN or WOMEN doing there job.

  3. I would say if you are parking on a hill....

    1. Turn the front wheels torward the curb. If by any chance it moved the vehicle would roll into the curb.

    2. Set the park brake with left foot (if your vehicles park brake is on the left.) This would lessen damage to transmission parts

    3. Put the vehicle in park (if you have an automatic)

Why would you turn your wheel away from the curb? As answered above by others answerers

  4. You should get a total of 3 chances to take the test before paying for another test.  I personally never had to do a hill parking test, but what you described is exactly what I would do if I was to park on a hill.  So turning the wheel away from the curb, putting car in park and then putting on the E brakes correct.  Getting a couple of mistakes on the test won't fail you.   Watch your favorite movies or something to take your mind off of things.  No need to get worried.  And Good Luck on your driving test.

  5. To aleviate your nervousness, you could do what Marcia Brady did (the Brady Bunch) and imagine the examiner is wearing only boxers.
