Question:

Driving while suspended

I got a speeding ticket on the 26th. On the 29th, I got a mail about my license being suspended effective 23rd. I had just moved and I had given a forwarding address to USPS. Is it my fault that I got the USPS mail late and be liable for damages for driving under suspension?

  1. If you only got a speeding ticket and not a DUS (Driving under suspension) ticket, you are good, though technically, you were driving under suspension. If you move, you are required by law to inform DMV of your new address. Since, you do not have a DUS ticket, you can relax a bit.
