Question:

Driving whilst using a mobile phone - UK?

Why do I constantly still see people driving around whilst using their mobile phones?

Do you do this and if so why, when you know that it is against the law and will increase the risk to yourself and me, the other driver.

Why is the law not being enforced?

  1. People who use mobile phones whilst driving are idiots and they do so because they think they won't be caught and they are unlikely to be caught because there are not police cars following every single mortorist.

  2. No i don't and i hate those that do. It is true that it distracts them as whenever i have a problem whilst on the road, its always a driver on their phone. They cut you up, they can't be bothered to slow down so they carry on (as they only have one hand spare). So many things irritate me. Even when im a pedestrian, i nearly got ran over just the other week coz some prat on their phone didn't indicate to turn into a road i was crossing, then had the cheek to call me stupid!! They're the idiot for not indicating and observing!!! Grrr

  3. it can get you killed.

  4. The law is being enforced, I was in my car (stationary) using my phone ........ £60 and 3 points!

However I agree there are loads of drivers out there using them whilst driving.

  5. I think the people who drive while using their mobile phones are completly arrogant. They believe the law does not apply to them. I also see people eating, drinking, reaching into the back seat etc! Eating should defo be banned while driving.

  6. I agree with you, but I think it is one of those laws that is very difficult to police.

  7. I don't do it myself, but like you I am appalled at the number of drivers who still do, particularly drivers of articulated lorries who are pulling tonnes behind them and drive with one hand on the wheel whilst chatting on a mobile phone..

Those boys think they're in control, but they're not. In fact, some of those boys think they own the road, and are a law onto themselves.

There are other arrogant k***s out there too who just think the law does not apply to them, continue to break it, and then slag off the police for doing their job.

    Infuriating, isn't it?

  8. I couldn't agree with you more. I drive and people say "I couldn't get hold of you as your phone was off" I remind them that I don't use the phone whilst driving. I'm no goody two shoes, it's because I'm concentrating on what the other idiots might do. That's how I'm answering this question today.

  9. is holding a mobile whilst at the wheel any more dangerous than holding or lighting a cigarette or programming your sat nav or your stereo, even whilst using a hands free your mind is still elsewhere, personally i am glad there aren't any more police resources being used to persecute the motorist, when there is so much more serious crime going on around us, i think that the police should earn their money like any other profession, not drive around all day in gas guzzling cars, trying to earn more revenue for the government coffers.

  10.   I also see a lot of people talking on the mobile's whilst driving , I have never done it i cant even change the cd while driving . Its a hard law to enforce

  11. Answer to your questions

    NO - I do not

Not enough police on duty to prosecute them = AND - I have seen several Police Officers driving whilst on the phone - so, where does that leave them on the prosecuting other driver stakes

  12. its against the law to drink and drive speed not put a seat belt on

    but people do,!!

  13. They're too damned arrogant - the law doesn't apply to them obviously - just like those stupid fools who go through red lights!

  14. because many people have little regard for the law seemingly, why don't we send a few to jail who get caught, then people might get the idea not to do it.
