Driving without tax or nct?

Question

does anybody in Ireland know what the fine is for allowing someone to drive a car with no tax or nct cert on a car . my friends sons car broke down and she allowed him to use a car she had in her garage he switched his insurance over to it ok .he only used it while waiting for his own car to get fixed but the cops stopped him and took the car and summonsed both my friend and her son for driving the car without an nct cert and no tax

sorry i dont live there but really paying the fines and getting the car back is all see that need to be done... shoul dbe able to get a better answer by calling the cops or asking one on the street what the fine is
