Drogba Determined To Win The Champions League

Didier Drogba, the stand in Chelsea captain, said the Champions League was his top priority this season. The Ivoirian international has been given the captains armband after captain John Terry and vice captain Frank Lampard have both been missing from injuries.
That has affected their performance over the past few weeks, which saw the Blues slip from the top of the Premier League.
Drogba has arguably been one of the best players for the Blues in the Roman Abramovich era. He helped the Blues win three Premier League titles, three FA Cups and two League Cups since he arrived in 2004 from Marseille. Drogba is now determined to win the
UEFA Champions League, the one trophy Chelsea have not been able to win.
The closest Chelsea have come to winning the Champions League was in 2008 when they face Premier League rivals Manchester United in the final of the European competition. Didier Drogba was sent off for a foul on Vidic and the Blues eventually lost on penalties.
It was a big disappointment for the Blues, coming so close and then losing out, and that too on penalties.
Drogba is well aware that the Blues need to have their injured stars back if they hope to make it to the Champions League final this season. Chelsea are especially missing England duo, John Terry and Frank Lampard. The Chelsea forward is confident that with
their return, the Blues will be much stronger and will have a better chance of making it to Wembley.
He said while speaking to reporters, “First of all, it is for everybody to be in good health because with health you can try to achieve everything you want. Then I want to see everybody at Chelsea celebrating the Champions League at Wembley.” The
Ivoirian international said the was in the best form he has been so far. He said that he would do his best to help his side help achieve their aims. He added,
“I think I'm getting better with age.”
The striker revealed that even though he started late, he was improving. He said,
“I started very late at the highest level, as I was 25 when I played one season for Marseille and then I came here. I feel I'm improving every season. Because I started late, I'm not tired or fed up with playing. I love what I'm doing.”
The striker admitted he was enjoying his role as stand in captain for the Blues, he said,
“I try to motivate and give the example on the pitch - you've got to make sure what you say in the dressing room, you apply it on the pitch. But it's the same when I'm not captain. This armband doesn't change anything for me.”
