Drogba believes he has won over the fans and Ivanovic not leaving Chelsea
Didier Drogba, the Ivorian Striker for Chelsea believes that fans who were not so fond of him in his early days have started to love him now. Drogba joined Chelsea from the French League back in 2003; he has been a prolific goal-scorer
ever since coming to London. But there was one element about his game that did not go down so well with most. Drogba had a tendency to fall unnecessarily to win free kicks and penalties.
However things have changed in recent times and Drogba has learned to grow with time, and it is his goal-scoring ability that has been making the headlines rather than his theatrical dives. Fans have started to love and adore him
even more and he acknowledges that fact.
Drogba said: "I think I am appreciated here now and I am really grateful to the fans in England," he said in The People
Drogba has won 3 league titles since coming to Chelsea, and in all 3 campaigns he has been an integral part of the team. Back in 2006 when Chelsea won the League, many had said that if it was not for Drogba’s match saving crucial
goals Chelsea would have never been able to win the league. Same was the case last season; Drogba went on a goal spree and in the process won the golden boot for the season.
However there is still one thing that he has at the back of his mind; the 32 year old has won the Premier League, FA cups and League cups but has not managed to get his hands on UEFA Champions’ League yet. The closest Chelsea came
was in 2008 when they were one penalty kick away from the trophy and Captain John Terry slipped in wet conditions in Moscow, hence Manchester United ended up winning the final.
Drogba said that it sure is something he would love to win before he calls it a day, but even if he does not manage to win that he is content with what he has achieved and hopes his fans remember him in good words.
Meanwhile Branislav Ivanovic, the Chelsea defender who had been linked with a move to the Italian club Juventus would not be leaving the club. The player’s agent Vlado Borozan confirmed that there is no deal being struck with Juve
and Ivanovic is staying put.
There were reports that the 26 year old might be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, as there were some doubts about his future with the club and his place in the starting XI.
However the player’s agent Borozan has made it clear that the defender is going to stay with Chelsea, and there are no plans of him moving in January.
While talking to a British newspaper Borozan said that there is no truth in rumours of Ivanovic being in talks with Juventus or anyone else for that matter. He added that is purely a media constructed story and that is the end
of it.
"It's a rumour that has come out without foundation. Maybe people linked Ivanovic with Juventus as one of my colleagues is Milos Krasic's agent.
Ivanovic came to Chelsea in 2008 for a fee worth 9 million pounds; since then he has played 50 matches for the blues and scored one goal.
