Chelsea’s interim manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
Drogba was part of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786’s starting eleven, as the Premier League side played host to the Catalans.
Going into the game, just about everyone expected Chelsea to end up coming out on top at the end of the ninety minutes.
However, following Drogba scoring the only goal of the game, the London based club went on to stun the world of football, as they won the match by one goal to nil, which gave them an advantage to carry with them to the Camp Nou.
Despite having been the most important member of the Chelsea squad in the first leg, it seems like the Ivory Coast international could miss out on the second leg, due to him not recovering in time for the game.
Di Matteo has hinted that a number of late fitness tests would take place, before the foward would be cleared for the game, but at the moment it was too early to say anything.
When talking about the forward and his condition, Di Matteo said: "At this moment of time, I don't know [whether the striker will be fit in time for the return with Barca]."
He then admitted that an overall assessment needed to take place, in order to figure out just how fit the player was and if it was a risk to use him or not.
He then went on to explain in detail, as he added: "We'll have to assess the players over the course of the weekend. He [Drogba] has an injury on his knee, which is why he did not play here, so it's whether the progression on this injury will be quick enough
[for him to feature]."
Should Drogba end up missing out on the game, Chelsea could end up using http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 up front.
This would give the team more pace, but would take away the presence and experience that Drogba brought with him.
It is now a wait to see whether the player is fir for the game or not.
