Droopys Bach shines, Slick Sian performs terribly in the ROMFORD STADIUM STANDARD on Feb 3
K. R. Allsop would have been the most disappointing man on Friday evening, as his high status trainee, Slick Sian showed an embarrassing performance in THE ROMFORD STADIUM STANDARD. While the 1 to 1 betting favourite was below-par, Droopys Bach appeared
as the star of the event, capturing the top slot by a huge margin.
It was a 400 metre long Grade OR Heat, started off at 22:11 (local time). All eyes were glued on Slick Sian, but the black b***h attracted the audience by delivering an extraordinary performance. She not only showed an early pace, but also ran superbly
close to the inside rail.
A consistent show earned J W Reynolds’ trainee a decent advantage which he retained till the finish. By covering the area in just 24.01 seconds, the 4 to 1 chance holder, Westmead Joe’s son, out of Droopys Chelsea, topped the chart, winning a cash
prize of £175.
Since Kish Corsair, trained by P R Garland, was badly bumped at first bend, he fell short by 6 ¾ lengths. Despite showing an early pace, it was impossible for the black dog to challenge the eventual winner. After setting off with the winning chances
of 5 to 1, Droopys Kewell’s son out of Roan Shadow bridged the area in 24.55 seconds.
The third position belonged to Young Vicarious – the second hound with 4 to 1 betting odds. The blue dog was also bumped early on, however, his strategy to use the rails helped him end up among the first three position holders. The P. W. Young-trained
hound was a bit unlucky, falling short by a head’s margin.
The fourth position was captured by the least favourite hound in the heat, Soviet Nailer, the 10 to 1 choice. The brindle dog got crowded, and failed to grab any notable position on the chart. He covered the distance in 24.86 seconds, 3 ¾ lengths adrift
of Young Vicarious. Monleek Sloopy, who was carrying the odds of 5 to 1, finished fifth in the list, clocking the area in 24.92 seconds.
Slick Sian’s sixth place would have been a huge shock for her connections. After being badly bumped at first bend, the black b***h was baulked. Hence, it was quite hard for her to impress the spectators.
Droopys Bach completed his hat-trick of victories. This win may guide him to a better starting price in the next race.
