Droopys Cristian quickest to sprint across the race track at Betfred Steel Cup heats
Elaine Parker’s charge was the quickest to finish the Betfred Steel Cup heats at Sheffield on Tuesday night, the 9th of August. The heats were a 500m open race.
Droopys Cristian had to push hard in the first two heats but after that he was good to go till the very end.
Heat 1 had Frisby Fontenblu finishing first in 29.35 seconds, followed by Mill Bling Bling three quarters of a length short of him.
Mill Bling Bling gave Frisby Fontenblu a tough competition, especially at the third bend, but Frisby Fontenblu did not budge and made it all the way to the finish line.
Trainer K. Allsop’s Slick Seahawk finished third, one and a quarter of a length short of Mill Bling Bling.
In Heat 2, Charlie Lister’s Boher Paddy made it first in 29.17 seconds, contending against Tudor Prince.
Tudor Prince was challenging for Boher Paddy in the beginning, but at the third bend Boher Paddy took the lead.
Trainer H. William’s Tudor Prince finished second in 29.51 seconds, four and a quarter of a length short of Boher Paddy.
Dazzlem Dinny just finished third, merely a length short of Tudor Prince in 29.59 seconds.
Doctor Robert was the quickest to finish Heat 3 in 29 seconds and was followed by Romeo In Oregon for the second with a huge difference of 66 points.
Romeo In Oregon finished eight and a quarter of a length short of Doctor Robert.
Trainer K. Macari’s Oran Jaguar finished with Romeo In Oregon but was placed third with just a point’s difference.
Droopys Maxwell, trained by M. Walsh, was first to finish Heat 4 in 29.27 seconds, followed by Ballymac Xavi for the second position in 29.41 seconds.
Ballymac Xavi finished one and three quarters of a length short of Droopys Maxwell.
Mill Tornado made it third in 29.47 seconds, three quarters of a length short of Ballymac Xavi.
Sporty Fortune made it second in Heat 5, way below Droopys Cristian's performance, finishing six lengths short of him in 29.37 seconds.
Trainer P. Rosney’s Vatican Stein finished third in 29.53 seconds, two lengths short of Sporty Fortune.
Hence, the hounds to qualify for Round 1 of the semifinals of the Betfred Steel Cup, next Tuesday, were Frisby Fontenblu, Mill Bling Bling, Boher Paddy, Saint Jack, Tudor Prince and Clerihan Gold.
Round 2 of the semifinals would be contended by Romeo In Oregon, Doctor Robert, Ballymac Xavi, Droopys Maxwell, Sporty Fortune and Droopys Cristian.
The connections of all these hounds remain in high anticipation till the Betfred Steel Cup finals, a long wait.
