Droopys English to finish on top in Gold Cup 1st Semi Final at Henlow
Droopys English, A. Gifkins’ 2-year-old charge, is highly likely to storm to the Gold Cup decider at Henlow, as his claims in Thursday’s first semi-final are as clear as day.
The red box has proved to be a lucky trap for the fawn dog. After facing a terrible defeat at the end of last month, when he started his run from the third stall, the dog got the red jersey, which really helped him regain momentum.
He displayed a splendid show on the fourth of this month, winning the October 550 Maiden easily by four lengths. Perpetuating the wonderful work, the son of Blackstone Gene kicked off his Gold Cup campaign on a high.
In the opening round of the championship, he was more than impressive. Despite being in the white box, the maverick hound managed to avoid every sort of mess, and eventually won the race by three lengths.
He was quickly away, and always led the proceedings. After a couple of terrific wins, Droopys English is currently the centre of attention, and we cannot blame the punters for showing immense interest.
Other hounds in the 550 metres race are: Blackrose Mia, Westmead Bertie, Mays Gold, Swift Freeze and Westmead Atlas. The semi-final encounter is scheduled to get started at 20:58 GMT. The successful hound will be given a prize of 150 pounds.
Blackrose Mia is a talented hound, but it is imperative that she beats T1 to the punch. The white and black b***h might be able to trounce rest of the pack, but getting the better of Droopys English will be a tough task.
Westmead Bertie cannot afford to make a hash of the start from the third box. Mays Gold made a disappointing effort last time. The black dog at one stage was in total command, but failed to retain his advantage until the wire. As a result, he finished second
by 2¾ lengths.
Westmead Atlas is likely to find the principals have gone beyond recall. On the other hand, Swift Freeze will need inside crowding to strike a telling blow. Otherwise, his prospects are not notable. Good luck to all the participants.
