Droopys Felton clear favourite for Gala Coral Puppies at Hove
Although there are five speedy hounds in Thursday’s Gala Coral Puppies at Hove, they will find it very difficult to get the better of Droopys Felton, who has been given the highest price of 10 to 11.
The bookies have made the right move by declaring him clear favourite. The black dog surely deserves the highest respect, as he is in very good form at the moment. After doing the goods at Monmore and Henlow, S. Cahill’s charge did plenty of damage at Romford.
On his penultimate trip, the son of Droopys Robinho was mighty impressive. He displayed a dominating performance, leading the proceedings all the way through. With the help of a superb act, he secured the first place by six and a half lengths.
The maverick hound perpetuated his marvellous work, and did well last time out. It was nothing more than unlucky loss for the big fellow, as he missed the crown only by 1¾ lengths.
Having performed consistently during the last few weeks, the April-11 hound is full of power. The draw is massively in his favour. After leaving the first trap, he will be enjoying a great opportunity to take an early lead. And if he succeeds in doing so,
his chances of capturing the first rank will go up significantly.
Among his rivals are: Ard To Beat, Droopys Hooper, Makeit Eagle Eye, Kilcotton Bess, and Forest Will. The clash is due to get started at 20:18 GMT. It carries a handy prize of 175 pounds.
The home advantage can enable Droopys Hooper to provide the forecast. On his previous venture here, the black did well to seize the second place, missing the gold medal only by a head’s distance. That fine act would be a morale booster.
As far as Ard To Beat’s chances are concerned, stamina may ebb away when push comes to shove. Makeit Eagle Ey boasts winning form over course and distance.
A steep rise in class may nullify Kilcotton Bess’ chances here. Forest Will does not match up to selection in terms of form. We wish the best of luck to all the hounds.
