Droopys Hester is Expected to set the Romford track on fire in the Coral Champion Stakes finale
Among the prestigious events of English greyhound racing, the Coral Champion Stakes, held at the Romford racing track, is on top of the list.
This famous event is held every year in the last week of August, or first week of September.
Like other known races it consists of Heats, then semi-final matches are scheduled and later on the qualifiers of the semi-finals are placed in the final.
This year in 2011, the Coral Champion Stakes started in the month of August.
The event started with Heats on the 26th of August, 2011, at the Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium.
Six heats were scheduled on Friday night, which covered 575 meters distance. Every heat consisted of six greyhounds, who raced against each other to win the purse worth £150.
The winner of Heat 1 was trainer D Henry’s Honey Trampas. Heat 2 was won by Brdge Diamond, trained by M L Locke while Longwood Days under M A Wallis’s training was declared the winner of Heat 3.
Among all the hounds, Droopys Hester who placed himself in the semi-finals after covering the distance in 35.05 seconds gave a hit in Heat 4.
The winner of Heat 5 was trainer S A Cahill’s Emperor Leon and Heat 6 was won by Hugo You G under training of P J Simmonds.
The Winners of the Heats qualified for the semi-finals, organised at the same venue, on the 2nd of September 2011.
Three Coral Champion Stakes' Semi Finals were scheduled covering the same distance 575 meters.
The swift winner of the Heats again grabbed the spot light, by covering the distance in less time as compared to rest of the contenders.
The Coral Champion Stakes' 2nd semi-final winner covered his distance in 35.25 minutes.
Trainer N Savva’s Westmead Maldini gave a hit in the 1st semi-final of the Coral Champion Stakes, and Local Dee Jay under K J Findlay’s training finished second.
Trainer J Wright’s Droopys Luisao gave a hit in the 3rd semi-final of the Coral Champion Stakes and following him was Emperor Leon who finished second for trainer S A Cahill.
The winners of the Coral Champion Stakes' semi-finals have placed themselves into the big event, the final of the Coral Champion Stakes.
The competition is organised at the Coral Greyhound Stadium at Romford on the 7th of September, 2011.
Same distance of 575 meter has to be covered by the winner of the race.
12 races will be held among the warriors who will set the track on fire. The victor will receive a prize money of £10,000 out of the total purse of £12,000.
Every one’s eyes are on Droopys Hester who is expected to be the prize winner for trainer J Wright.
