Droopys Loner, with his long strides won the January Standard Dup at Henlow
Droopys Loner won the Grade OR January Standard Dup 460m event on January 12, at Helnow. The blue and brindle b***h had to fight against Swabys Tony, Young Vicarious, Dunham Smokey, Delwood Robbo and Hernandez, to wrest the title.
With houseful of spectators and bookies, the race began at 10:03pm.

Droopys Loner, trained by D Childs, broke from trap number 2, and was the only favourite of the race, with a starting price of 8 to 11.
From the very beginning, the dashing hound seemed to be in great form. Within five seconds, she cleverly broke through the crowd to take the lead.

Having excelled, she beautifully managed to sustain her pace, and kept pushing ahead with sheer force.
Finally, the daughter of Droopys Lotto reached the finish line in 28.01 seconds, with a huge difference of 3 ½ lengths from the runner-up.

It was for the fifth time the b***h won in her career, which started in October 2011.
Whelped in November 2009, the triumphant racer pleased her trainer, who commented that the b***h was going to have a promising career as she possessed immense talent in racing.
The second position went to Swabys Tony, who seemed to be unusually slow from the very beginning. The fawn dog did not even bother to increase his speed and take over the front runner.
After breaking from Trap 6, P W Young's trainee completed the distance in 28.29 seconds, and fell short by 3 ½ lengths.

He got this position for the 4th time in his career, which started in November, 2011, at Belle Vue. However, he was running in this category for the first time.
Young Vicarious was the hound who finished third in the race, after breaking from trap 3.

The blue dog was slow in the start but perked up his speed in the middle, and challenged Swabys Tony for at least three times.

However, he failed to take the lead from the runner ahead of him.
At last, the son of Droopys Kewell bridged the distance in 28.43 seconds, falling short by a mere 1 ¾ lengths. Whelped in September 2008, he is also conditioned by P W Young.
At the end of the race, the winner got a prize money of £150, while each of the other racers earned £20.
