Droopys Stevie looking good to win the RD Racing Trafalgar Cup Heat-1
Droopys Stevie is all set to take victory in the RD Racing Trafalgar Cup Heat-1 Open Race at Oxford in England on Saturday, February 11, 2012. The prize money of winning the 450 metres event is £150.
The favourite greyhound has been performing exceptionally well since making debut last year. His consistency proved to be his strength and the bookmakers did not have any doubt in their minds, awarding him with a starting price of 10 to 11.
D. Childs’ trained dog has never raced in Oxford, but that does not take anything away from him, as he will not find it much difficult to race on a different track. His last outing was in Henlow, where he finished as runner up.
Droopys Stevie was given a starting price of 10 to 1 for that event, but he did a very decent job. He was unable to catch the favourite greyhound back then, but still displayed excellent speed, especially at the start of the race.
At the moment, there seems to be no match for the black dog in this race. However, he will have to be at his best to completely dominate the proceedings. He is the son of Droopys Vieri out of Droopys Rena and was born in April 2010.
The second favourite for the race will be Smart Bid, trained by C. Allsopp. He will enter the race with a starting price of 10 to 3 and will be the closest rival of Droopys Stevie.
Despite having done well over the past few races, it will not be easy for Smart Bid to fight for race victory today. He will have to be quick right from the start of the race until the end. His most recent outing was in Henlow, where he managed to take fourth
place.
The black dog is the son of Ninja Jamie out of Expert Flash and was born in June 2010.
Another greyhound trained by C. Allsopp, Doobys Gone West, is likely to fight for the top three positions. He has not been performing consistently and might find it hard to make an impression today.
However, he does have the speed to fight at the top of the order and has been awarded with a starting price of 11 to 2 by the bookmakers. The brindle coloured dog is the son of Ballymac Ruso out of Little Diva and was born in August 2010.
Jolly Gino, trained by N. Colton, has been given a starting price of 11 to 2 as well. It will be hard for him to finish in the top three, but a solid start might give him some chance to fight the favourite.
The black and white dog was unimpressive in his previous outing, as he finished sixth overall. He is the son of Ballymac Maeve out of She Said No and was born in March 2010.
The least favourite greyhounds for Oxford’s race will be Droopys Darwin and Lacken Heights. They will enter the race with a starting price of 8 to 1 respectively.
This race appears to be a one-sided affair, as Droopys Stevie is in sublime form. However, anything can happen in racing, so only time will tell what happens.
