Droopys Vito upsets Tullna Panda – Greyhound Racing Update
Droopys Vito, trained by D Childs, won the 515 metres Greyhound Open Race (OR) at Hove in England on Thursday, January 5, 2012, winning a cash prize of £150.
Vito managed to upset Tullna Panda, greyhound that started the heat as favourite with a starting price of 5 to 4. The former dog had a starting price of 6 to 4, but managed to finish at the top.
The winning greyhound started the sprint from Trap number three and covered the distance in 30.41 seconds.
D Walsh’s trained dog, Rith Royal, ended up second in the race, finishing just 0.25 seconds behind Vito. He started the heat from Trap number five.
Rith Royal was the least favourite greyhound to win the race, starting with a price of 10 to 1. However, he almost managed to finish the race at the top of the table, leaving other trainers surprised to some extent.
Skippys Samson, trained by N E M Mcellistrim, was also one of the least favourite dogs to win the race, but ended up with an impressive third place finish. He finished just 0.14 seconds adrift of Rith Royal. Skippys Samson had a starting price of 5 to 1,
and took position in Trap number six at the start.
Tullna Panda, breaking from trap number two, had an unimpressive race, leaving trainer DD Knight dejected at the end of the race. He finished in fourth place, covering the distance in 30.86 seconds.
Although, the margin between the first four dogs was not a big one, DD Knight would have liked his dog to end up at the top of the points table, as he was sent off as the favourite for the race.
The hound that completed the order of finish was, Sunset Limited, trained by R Senior. The greyhound started from trap number four and ended up last overall. It had a starting price of 6 to 1 and was expected to finish in the bottom two. There were no surprises
from Sunset Limited.
All the other dogs except, Sunset Limited, finished the race in less than 31 seconds. The fifth place finisher ended the heat in 31.02 seconds.
