Drop passes: Cleveland Browns coach Pat Shurmur puts WR Greg Little on warning – NFL News
Cleveland Browns coach Pat Shurmur has issued a stark warning to wide receiver Greg Little to overcome the habit of dropping passes thrown by quarterback Brandon Weeden whose performance has also been affected due to the fumbles or else face risking his
career.
In spite of all-out efforts, Greg has been consistently dropping catches during each game and then his overambitious celebration, especially at a time when the Browns have lost all their games, is all too frustrating for the coach.
Pat said:
"We can't play a guy that's going to drop footballs."
The Browns are struggling to register their first win of the season and the shaky performances like of Greg’s are not helping their cause at all. The player had a few dropdowns and fumbles in the game against the Buffalo Bills on past Sunday, and the coach
came furious on him in the post-game remarks.
Shurmur has emphasised on the player to work out the problem and rectify it, warning he is not afraid of making changes otherwise, implying the player should be ready to face any worst possibility including benching and ousting.
According to the coach:
"That's the reality of it, and so we need to work with them and inspire them to play better. Am I dealing with that and are we working with that as we go along? Absolutely, but that's not an excuse, that's the reality. So we all need to do better."
The fumbles and missed catches by the offensive line have further dampened the quarterback’s below-the-mark performance and the coach apparently frustrated out of the continued losses is not seeing the developments on the field helping him at all.
Also, since change of the ownership there is a sense of uncertainty and doubts about career prospects of all present officials and lack of form and ability on part of the players is making the situation from bad to worse.
Having played three games of the season so far and all lost the Browns are at bottom of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division, with Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals tied in the lead with two wins each while the Pittsburgh Steelers
with a single win are just behind them.
