Question:

Dropped assault charges?

I have been arrested for assault but charges were dropped as it was seen as self defence. The case never went to court and I was on bail for around a month. I was just wondering what would appear on a crb check and whether this would affect future employment. Can anyone help?

  1. Most employment applications only require you to disclose convictions, unless the charges were a felony.

The arrest will show up, but there will be an entry stating you were not found guilty, and should be presumed innocent.

  2. The arrest will appear on any background check but the good news is that you can expunge the arrest off your record.  It could certainly affect future employment.  If the job was between you and someone with a clean record, who do you think would get the job?

  3. its going to stay on your record--which sucks...but you can explain yourself to your employers-or hope they dont investigate
