Question:

Dropping items on a rollercoaster?

I went to SixFlags on Saturday, and on the Superman rollercoaster in one place I noticed a lot of shiney on the ground. (I would assume it was change from peoples pockets since some was falling from people in front of me)

Obviously someone goes and cleans that stuff up... but what do they do with it? When do they get it (time wise)? How often do they clean it up? Who gets that job? Do they count how much $ gets collected? What do they do with all the hats and shoes and other stuff that falls?

Those were just a few of the things I thought about afterwards... that and I'm sure glad the safety harness didnt break LOL.

  1. the stuiff is up for grabs for all intense purposes. everyone is supposed to take it to lost and found. some people use the shortcut of giving it to an employeee at the park but who says the employee takes it to lost and found. who says the lost and found attendant isnt grabbing stuff too. best way is to maje sure everythoing is fastened down before riding.

  2. i've seen a lot of people losing shoes and stuff on the hanging rollercoasters. i'm sure it goes into the lost & found, and all the change gets pocketed by whoever wants it.

tie your shoes and wear a belt, or your day might get a lot worse.

  3. change from rollercoaster rides usually gets donated to charity.(one in particular is Cedar Point "Raptor")

Each night after closing, loose change found under the Raptor is collected and deposited in a charity fund benefiting several Erie County, Ohio non-profit organizations. Following Raptor's first year of operation, $12,269 was donated to Sandusky's Ontario School (at the time, 7 Macintosh computers were purchased). Another $1,000 was donated to Sandusky's Osborne School.

Cleaning up is either done late at night or early in the morning to ensure the ride and people's safety.

  4. I used to work at SixFlags.  They just throw whatever they find away.  Unless they find somebody's wallet or something, they usually throw it away.
