Question:

Dropping out Age?

I was just reading the Attendance Laws for Massachusetts:

http://www.agawampublicschools.org/filestorage/50/621/Attendance_Policy_9-12.pdf

And I was just wondering, at age 16 can you legally drop out of school without parent consent, or do you only have the right to choose which days you go to school, and they cannot legally do anything?

Thanks!

  4. Any person under the age of 18 needs the consent of parents, guardian, or the court to drop out.  With that being said, you should really consider it first.  If you're going through tough times or stress that makes you want to drop out, then please don't.  Every kid feels stress out with high school, and by dropping out now, you're basically throwing away your future.  PLEASE PLEASE stay in school and make the best of it.
