Drosophila nigrospiracula culture?

Question

Will it culture on conventional Drosophila melonagaster media (like the blue food or the jazz mix) or does it have to live on that crazy Wheeler Clayton recipe (http://stockcenter.arl.arizona.edu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=40)?

i don't see why it should be dependant on any particular mixture of foods.. they seem to do fine on the bananas and apples on my counter :D

but seriously.. i doubt, it.. it's most likely just a control for an experiment.. so that all the flies eat presicely the same foods
