Drovers Eclipse to drive the Bookmakers Dash tonight at Henlow
The Bookmakers Dash is to be held on Thursday 1st March at Henlow over 277 metres. The lineup of six hounds will compete for the £150 prize money.
Drovers Eclipse, Hondo Black’s five-year-old brindle son out of b***h Ashcarne Flojo, has raced four times during the 2012 season, out of which he has won twice and has been placed second twice too.
Drovers Eclipse broke into the new season on 21st January in a 277 metres race at Henlow and settled second once the winner, Cash Register had gone through the wire in 17.38 seconds.
His next race culminated into a victory when he clocked the 277 metres distance in 16.92 seconds, adrift by 2 ¼ lengths on 3rd February at Henlow. The 5/4 favourite of the race, Bazas Choice was the runner up and was followed through the wire by Shimano Swift.
Drovers Eclipse’s next start too was lucky for him as he won the D1 277 metres flat on 9th February at Henlow by clocking the track distance in 16.88 seconds. This Drovers Eclipse achieved by setting the evening’s favourite, Hovex Jaz in the runner up’s slot. Third in line behind the winner was Bazas Choice.
Instead of getting hold of a hat trick, Drovers Eclipse missed the fourth start and landed second in the D1 277 metres flat on 23rd February at Henlow. He raced through the distance in 16.82 seconds and was entered as a 7/4 favourite. Alecs Blue finished third in line behind the winner.
Finally Bazas Choice recorded a victory.
Today will be Drovers Eclipse’s fifth outing of the season and a third victory if he goes through the wire before any of the other hounds.
Bazas Choice, Droopys Woods four-year-old dark brindle son out of b***h Call Ann, has been in contention with Drovers Eclipse since the last three times he raced. Bazas Choice lost consecutively against Drovers Eclipse, first on 3rd February and then on 9th February at Henlow.
It was Bazas Choice’s last race on 23rd February that eventually declared him as the winner. The two will encounter each other today again. Whether Bazas Choice will get to post the fourth victory of the season or Drovers Eclipse will grab his third win, will come out in the open soon.
