Question:

Drowsiness at the beach...why?

As someone who just cannot take a nap during the day, regardless of how run down I'm feeling, why is it that I (and apparently every-other person on the sand!) have absolutely no problem nodding off to sleep while at the beach? As soon as I sit down I just cannot keep my eyes open for the life of me, regardless if I'm well-rested. Is it something as simple as the combination of the fresh air and warm (even hot!) sun that tells your body to relax? Forget the book and/or magazine I usually take with me -- I never get a chance to even look at them 'cause they never leave my bag! Too funny.

  1. Its probably because the sun is wearing you out. When you are on the beach the sun is drying you out, and making you really warm. If you don't wear any protective stuff like hats, sunglasses or sunscreen, then you will  get tired. My friends experienced this because they didn't wear sunscreen, hats or even sunglasses and they were all worn out. But I wore them and was fine.

  2. I think it's the combination of the sun, heat, sand, ocean or water sounds and the relaxing atmosphere.

Nothing to worry about! Enjoy the relaxation.

  3. I believe there are many reasons why we all nod off at the beach. The heat takes a lot out of us and is also quite relaxing and makes you nod off. The next reason is the drive or walk to the beach isn't very relaxing neither is the walk from the car carrying your books, chairs, food, and everything else to your resting place so once you sit down your body says Aaaahhhhhh plus the sound of the wave crashing against the shore relaxes your body enough for a little nap. I hope I helped try to find an answer to the mistery of the beach nap. HE HE HE!
