Question:

Drowsy after drinking alcohol?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

After I've been drinking (not massive amounts) I become very drowsy and start nodding off, it happened not too long ago at a party and I found myself nearly falling asleep. What causes this and how can I prevent it? Is it just basic tiredness or due to certain drinks/habits to do with drinking?

Thanks

  1. Actually alcohol is a natural downer. That is why people mix energy drinks with alcohol to combat tha sleepy feeling. That is also why alcohol is in so many cold meds like Nyquil because it puts you to sleep.

  2. sounds to me like you are just having too much alcohol. You may help it by

    1. drinking a glass of water with each glass of wine/beer/cocktail/liquor

    2. getting more sleep before you drink

    3. eat more

  3. Happens to me too. The more i drink the more likely i am to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

  4. u need more rest!

unless someone is slipping something in your drinks

    watch out for roofies!

  5. ur proberly not use to it

and sitting down all night doesnt help go out get some air get up dance

  6. its bc alcohol is a depressant, which relaxes you and makes you sleepy! happens to me all the time, too. just stay around friends, get up and go play more beer pong or dance and you'll be fine all night. =]

  7. you are tired

  8. Dude,

Alcohol is a depressant, so it naturally makes you tired. Drink more water while you do drink, try not to sit too much, as in walk around and socialize while drinking, and try an energy drink if you still feel tired. But naturally alcohol will make you feel tired, as it is a depressant, and does just that. Otherwise just try "nursing" your drink to stop yourself from getting tired. Good luck.
