Question:

Drugs in food crops- stupidest idea ever?

The pharmaceutical plants are primarily sunflowers and corn, or maize. Some of the prescription drugs being produced by plants are vaccines, industrial enzymes, blood thinners, blood clotting proteins, growth hormones and contraceptive drugs. These are all prescription drugs now being produced by plants which are in the open.

Scientists from universities in Indiana, Ohio and Nebraska have proven there is already cross-pollination with close cousins of these species.

Which means? Guess what- Monsanto now owns these contaminated crops too.

Growing drugs in crops is cheap- but the end consumer will never benefit from this better profit margin the purchase price will remain the same.

What if a pregnant woman at food laced contaminated with contraceptive?

Major surgery patient eat inadvertently anti-clotting wheat?

Children eat industrial enzyme contaminated cookies?

This is corporate greed at its very worst- what's to be done?

  1. one possible improvement to our current archaic system would be more rapid approval and acceptance of data from out of the country.  The slowness and inept handling of drugs by FDA causes all sorts of distortions in production.

  2. You have no need to be worried. These crops are grown under VERY strict conditions, and grain elevators sample crops before they are put in with the rest.

Where are you getting your information from? Be sure you have ALL the facts before making your claims.

  3. I guess industrial enzymes won't "survive" in the stomach. they'll be digested like other proteins. Maybe the dangerous substances in plants can be destroyed if the plants are processed (e.g. sauerkraut is made of cabbage)
