  1. You have to go to an  "APOTHEKE".

Some drugs might be available without prescription. I had already several drugs which had to be prescriped in the USA (Allergy related drugs), but which you could get without prescription in Germany and vice versa. You might need to ask in person or call / e-mail an Apotheke.

  2. no.

  3. A drugstore in Germany is not the same as in the states. There is a Drogerie....which does not sell prescription drugs...more like the German version off a Dollar General.

Then there is a Apotheke....you can get some things over the counter...but for most you have to have a prescription.

  4. There is no such thing as a "drugstore" in Germany.

Prescription drugs are only distributed by pharmacies called "Apotheke" in Germany, other things, chemicals, cosmetics etc. you can buy in a "Drogerie".

German pharmacies are very strict, you couldn't even get the contraceptive pill without a doctor's prescription, let alone things like antibiotics, or other dangerous drugs.

  5. No, they don't. You can buy perscription drugs only in pharmacies, they're called 'Apotheke'.

  6. As far as prescription drugs-buying in Germany, forget it. Unless you have a prescription from a German doctor, most Apotheke will not sell you even Pseudophedrine over the counter. They are terrified to give you antibiotics unless you are dying and if you don't have private insurance, medical care is much as it is in the States: take a seat and wait. Bring what you need!
